Meet the Team
-
Kristen McNab - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Kristen is the founder of Rewild Refuge Farm Sanctuary and the Pathways Program, as well as a Certified Equine & Animal-Assisted Learning & Development Practitioner. Trained through the ROOTS Institute, her work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through relationship and connection - especially the quiet, intuitive kind we share with animals.
A lifelong horse lover, Kristen’s connection deepened in 2019 when she began working with horses full-time. As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent individual, she experienced firsthand the transformative power of the horse-human connection when traditional talk therapy no longer served her. Her training blends psychology, ethology, ecology, and neuroscience, creating experiences that are healing for humans while honoring the well-being of their rescued animals.
With compassion, lived experience, and a grounded approach, Kristen creates safe spaces where individuals can reconnect with themselves, build trust, and rediscover their strength—guided by the wisdom of rescued animals.

aaron mcnab - board member
Aaron and Kristen’s journey together began in San Francisco in 2014, long before their lives revolved around rescue animals. After moving to Oregon and starting a horse boarding facility, Aaron discovered his knack for animal care and his heart for sanctuary life. Today, as a core member of the Rewild Refuge family, Aaron manages daily feedings and takes on major maintenance and renovation projects that keep the sanctuary running smoothly.
Affectionately known as the sanctuary comedian, Aaron brings laughter and levity to even the busiest days. When he’s not fixing fences or repairing barns, you can often find him spending time with his beloved sheep—sharing quiet moments, swapping “stories,” and reminding everyone that joy is as essential to sanctuary life as hay and water. Aaron’s humor, hard work, and deep care for the animals make him a steady and uplifting presence for everyone at Rewild!

GREG FRIEDMAN - board member
Greg first discovered Rewild Refuge in 2020 after the rescue of Sadie and Stewie, and it didn’t take long for him to become an indispensable part of our sanctuary family.
As a dedicated Board Member, Greg wears many hats, often all in the same day. From being the primary caretaker for our beloved pigs to lending his skills to major building projects, renovations, and rescue transports, he’s always ready to roll up his sleeves. Greg’s steady presence, problem-solving spirit, and willingness to help wherever needed make him an irreplaceable force behind the scenes and a true champion for our animals! -
ASHLEY MAYA - Director of Animal Wellness
Ashley grew up dreaming of her own horse ranch, often spending hours in the pig barn during family visits, where her love for animals truly began to bloom. Today, she pours her heart into caring for the residents of Rewild Refuge, who have become as dear to her as family.
Her days are filled with gentle care, thoughtful attention, and an unwavering dedication to ensuring each animal feels safe, loved, and seen. Passionate about herbal remedies and holistic care, Ashley’s approach is deeply intentional—she strives not just to add years to their lives, but to fill those years with comfort, joy, and dignity.
Whether she’s mixing up a special herbal blend, checking in on a resident’s well-being, or simply sitting quietly in their presence, Ashley’s devotion leaves an unmistakable mark on every animal she tends to. Her work is a beautiful reminder that sanctuary life is about more than rescue—it’s about living fully, every single day.
